Summer Recap - On the Mission Field - Bruce and Barb

We have had many pictures taken over the years with Bruce and Barb, this one, while joyful, will be the last for awhile.  Our great friends are moving to Jamaica!  They will serve as directors for Robin's Nest.

It has been an emotional ride since they were selected to lead and minister.  We have had interesting talks about the accumulation of stuff. What to do with it? What to keep? What to store? Giving what to whom? Will the person receiving my treasure care for it as I do? And, of course, how did we ever end up with so much stuff?!  Before our life on the road began, I too, was asking these same questions!

I am excited for my friends and selfishly sad for myself as I will miss them very much. While we were parked in the area, Barb and I needed little excuse to get together knowing our time was limited.

They leave for Jamaica on October 8. It is a truly a God thing, and of course, looking back over the last few years we can clearly see how our loving Father was preparing their hearts and minds for such a mission.  Barb first visited Robin's Nest in 2010. She fell in love with the children, the chickens, the orphanage, and the people. Barb wanted so badly to go back she arranged a mission trip enticing her friends to join her.  So, there we were in Jamaica, in July 2011, running electrical cable, painting, installing a clothesline, (the very one Bruce and Barb will use for their clothes in October) playing with children, all the while Barb and Bruce were being drawn in and "belonging" to Robin's Nest.  How sweet to recognize how the Lord orchestrated all things.

Their adventure in God's Kingdom is about all of us; what is the Lord planning for you? How will he use you this day? Our dear Father will be with you in whatever the plan may be.  I am proud of how my friends have answered, "here am I, send me."  Please pray for Bruce and Barb and consider supporting them visit Orphanos to find out more about how you can help. Visit Barb's Blog and read about their journey leading up to Jamaica.

When Worlds Collide!

We are parked at Ponderosa Falls RV Park just outside of Cheney, Washington. Idyllic as it sounds...

just across the back fence - three homes are being built.

In order to get the work done, the nail guns begin gunning at 7:30 sharp, and the Techno dance music follows shortly thereafter.

Ponderosa is a very nice campground in a great location.  I am certain that when the campground was built thirty years ago, no one ever dreamed there would be a subdivision just across the fence.

Mountain Driving Helena to Spokane

Occasionally, while driving, you might see a sign like this.  Usually at an entrance or exit ramp off of the freeway.  This sign seemed to be a frequent occurrence as we traveled from Helena, Montana, to Spokane, Washington.
When you are driving a sporty vehicle,
these signs can be nearly ignored/welcomed; and, any car is sporty compared to a quad-cab diesel hauling a 35 foot 5th-wheel trailer, we do notice them.  In fact, I like to point them out to Dave, just in case he may have missed it. :)

I will freely admit I am not a model passenger, and that my hubby on such days should have his own holiday.  We both managed nicely through five mountain passes, one stop for fuel and three stops for bad snacks to get us through the day.  My prayer life is excellent, my nerves like rubber. I KNOW I have nothing to fear, but I still do. Ugh.The views were fabulous, the day gorgeous, the temperature perfect. I thank God for His continual care even when I fret.

you can barely see just over the vehicle pull out - a town down, down, down in the valley.

Summer Recap - The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum

This is Logan's,"I just want to touch it" phase. Translation - "if I can grab that bud, I will eat it before anyone catches me."

Amber getting one more close up. Visit the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum

Amber, Logan, Bucky, and Travis - a family photo.

we take lots of pictures

Alyssa and Dusty

Our kids all together - it was a sweet time.  I know I did not include photos of the exquisite blooms, but having my kids together was more beautiful than the flowers we came to see.

Summer Recap - Logan and Grampy

If it had to do with guitars, Logan was all in.  He could hear the case being opened - another thing to climb on! ... and maybe dancing.
I am so thankful to have been able to spend time with our kids and get to know the newest love of my life - Logan.
(Dave thinks he plays remarkably well.)

Leaving the Prairie

I have taken a leave from blogging over the summer while we were planted on the prairie. Now, we are in Sulphur Springs, Montana, and I am ready to pick it up once again ... it was time to go, so we went.
Our summer was filled with friends and family. We needed to cram a lot into a short time, and we managed to do it all.
We have allowed the grass to grow around our feet - or tires...

The vines are growing up the stabilizers!

The corn is taller than I am - you could not even see the corn when we arrived.

Vines growing on the cable - we have lived on the prairie a long time.
