Shelling Texas Pecans

After one and one half hours of shelling pecans, this is what I have to show for it - an empty bottle of beer and about four cups of pecans. It was a delightful task on a sunny afternoon in Newhall, Iowa.

It Says Thirteen Feet but...

When we travel the backroads, this is the thing that always gives me pause. (breathe, breathe) We went under one bridge in Macungie, Pennsylvania, that was 12' 10" YIKES - and what if they repaired the road and it now has a lower clearance, and what if they are just plain WRONG... In this case 13' was enough by about four inches.

This railroad bridge is just outside of Lebanon, Illinois. We spent an enjoyable week watching the miracle of Spring on the Trover farm. Thank you for your hospitality Alison!

The Lutheran Hour Studio

Earlier this week Dave was privileged to record a few hymns to be used by Mark Eischer (pictured) in his work with the Armed Forces Network(AFN) as part of Lutheran Hour Ministries.

It was interesting for Dave as he usually serves as engineer, singer,
and production manager when he records in the RV.

The microphone on the guitar in the photo on the left is the very microphone used by a long line of Lutheran Hour Speakers.

Tires

We have been hanging out in rainy weather for so long from Texas up through St. Louis. While driving in St. Louis last week, our truck could not hold the pavement. It was only a small skid, but enough for us to realize, "for cryin' out loud it is time to get new tires!" So we did. I guess we were holding out for a rainy day when we really needed new tires...
