We have had many pictures taken over the years with Bruce and Barb, this one, while joyful, will be the last for awhile. Our great friends are moving to Jamaica! They will serve as directors for Robin's Nest.
It has been an emotional ride since they were selected to lead and minister. We have had interesting talks about the accumulation of stuff. What to do with it? What to keep? What to store? Giving what to whom? Will the person receiving my treasure care for it as I do? And, of course, how did we ever end up with so much stuff?! Before our life on the road began, I too, was asking these same questions!
I am excited for my friends and selfishly sad for myself as I will miss them very much. While we were parked in the area, Barb and I needed little excuse to get together knowing our time was limited.
They leave for Jamaica on October 8. It is a truly a God thing, and of course, looking back over the last few years we can clearly see how our loving Father was preparing their hearts and minds for such a mission. Barb first visited Robin's Nest in 2010. She fell in love with the children, the chickens, the orphanage, and the people. Barb wanted so badly to go back she arranged a mission trip enticing her friends to join her. So, there we were in Jamaica, in July 2011, running electrical cable, painting, installing a clothesline, (the very one Bruce and Barb will use for their clothes in October) playing with children, all the while Barb and Bruce were being drawn in and "belonging" to Robin's Nest. How sweet to recognize how the Lord orchestrated all things.
Their adventure in God's Kingdom is about all of us; what is the Lord planning for you? How will he use you this day? Our dear Father will be with you in whatever the plan may be. I am proud of how my friends have answered, "here am I, send me." Please pray for Bruce and Barb and consider supporting them visit Orphanos to find out more about how you can help. Visit Barb's Blog and read about their journey leading up to Jamaica.
