Happy Anniversary - 31 Years

We are celebrating our anniversary this year in New York Mills (NYM), Minnesota. A knock on our door brought these lovely Strawberry Tarts and cookies as an anniversary gift. There is a bakery in NYM that Dave believes could be the best ever. He is willing to try out bakeries as we travel to test his theory.

The Cabin Getaway

Our friends own this little cabin on a lake. It is a perfect place that does not look perfect at all. The floors all slope towards the lake, the stove works, the oven does not, and the hill behind the cabin is steep. Once you step into the cabin, none of its imperfections matter a bit. It is a joyful, comforting place that behaves like an old friend. The owners treat their cabin as though it belongs to a community. Someone stays a week or a few days; another comes for a day just to get away and have some time, any event worth celebrating takes place at the cabin.

I love to stay overnight, with the promise of morning coffee in my Loon mug, on the deck overlooking the lake. Time slows down, the lake is quiet - I am smiling just thinking about it.

New Phone

It was bound to happen. My Verizon phone was two years old and I was informed that I could get an upgrade! How exciting. I have had my eye on a phone in which texting would be an easy feat. I was tired of push, push, push, "c." Now, my grammar is no better, but I am faster. I can also get "apps," go on-line, read the news, look at facebook, twitter, and check my e-mail. Here is the thing I find interesting... I have missed phone calls because I can't figure out how to answer my phone!

My Sisters

A sister will tell you in no uncertain terms that your outfit looks bad on you, or you really need to color your hair, or don't worry I am sure the pictures won't be awful... This mud pack picture is awful, but a dare is a dare.

Now that my sisters and I are all the same age - well, I might be a bit older - we have enjoyed being together and hanging out.

St. Michael's on Mother's Day

Dave is pictured with our niece and nephew, Rachel and Joshua Horn. These amazing young people sang with Dave which was a special treat for him.
We are enjoying our pause in Minnesota as we are using this stop to catch up with folks we have not seen for two years. Our schedule for August and beyond is in the works - Ohio, Pennsylvania, N & S Carolina, Georgia, and Florida here we come.

After parking in our son's driveway for a month, our son and the neighbors will be ready for us to hit the road. Our GPS unit is getting a break these days as we are in our old stomping grounds and not once have we needed the unit to get us to or from any church or school. It is a nice change of pace for us.

Prayer Friends

These lovely gals pray for us as we travel. They may not look like prayer warriors, but don't let their joyful beauty fool you! We thank God for friends such as these who continue to keep us in prayer. As I say to folks as we visit, "Pray for us when you see RV's."

Central Lutheran - Winona , Minnesota

Dave had a "Bluegrass" experience in Winona. The church band Centrally Dislocated, are pictured here practicing "Washed in the Blood," a fun tune with a mandolin lead. Most of the band is made up of professional musicians. Dave always enjoys playing with an actual band.

Larry Finke, the music director at Central Lutheran and friend from our days in Minnesota, was a wonderful host and could not have done anything more to make us feel welcome.

One of the ministry outreach programs at Central Lutheran is a Wednesday evening meal which is offered each week. The meal is attended by all kinds of folks from the community with an average attendance of 200. Pastor Jeff and his wife Pat, make the homemade bread served each week as part of the menu which is planned two months in advance. What a great way to share Jesus, meet, and get to know your brothers and sisters - break bread together! Pictured are your hosts for The Feast. Will you be in Winona on a Wednesday evening? Stop in.
