Dave has been using some of our time at Rifle Gap State Park to record. During the week the park has been quiet and the peaceful setting just begs for a little Dave Horn fingerstyle guitar. The start of album number 4.

Depends where you live

If are city born and raised, you will probably think of grocery store produce or canned goods, maybe a plastic-wrapped pallet of electronics, that sort of thing... as "stock". You know: "Did you get one of those things?" "No, they were out of stock, but I got a rain check." Not so here in the wilds of Colorado.

Garden of God!

The official name of this park is "Garden of the Gods," but come on, how can that be? These pictures do not do justice to the beautiful colors, and dramatic rock formations in the park. Our God is so big - look at all the stuff He's made so He could see us smile.

The park is part of the Colorado Springs city parks system. What a treasure.

Barbershop in the Rockies

On Thursday evening upon our return from seeing Star Trek (a very good movie, for trekkie fans), we were able to catch the end of Sound of the Rockies barbershop choir practice. They are wonderful. As I watched the group sing, I was struck by the age range of the men - from 9 to 90. I did not have my camera with me so you will have to visit their website for photos.

The group is preparing for international competition right now, last year they won fourth place at the competition in Nashville. You will find more information on their website at www.soundoftherockies.com. This blog entry is for all of my barbershop-loving friends, Barb.

The Back Lot

Here we are in Centennial, Colorado, for a week long stay. Out my window this week is the back lot of King Soopers, a grocery store. For those of you who never visit the semi truck lot in the back of a grocery store - you do not know what you are missing. 5 AM deliveries, followed by the 6 AM deliveries, followed by... well, you get the picture.

Since the show is right out my window, I have enjoyed watching the skill of the truck drivers. They have to back their semi to the loading dock door, which given the size of their trailers looks like a 2x2 foot door of opportunity. Every driver has nailed it accurately within three tries - I am impressed. I have made a little paper sign scoring their backing skill; although I am not sure they are looking to me for "atta boys" - hitting the loading dock square on must be enough praise for any guy.

This was an interesting photo with the Red's Organic Bread truck right next to the Entenmann's donuts, cookies and cakes truck.

More Signs

I thought both of these signs were interesting.
