Central Lutheran - Winona , Minnesota

Dave had a "Bluegrass" experience in Winona. The church band Centrally Dislocated, are pictured here practicing "Washed in the Blood," a fun tune with a mandolin lead. Most of the band is made up of professional musicians. Dave always enjoys playing with an actual band.

Larry Finke, the music director at Central Lutheran and friend from our days in Minnesota, was a wonderful host and could not have done anything more to make us feel welcome.

One of the ministry outreach programs at Central Lutheran is a Wednesday evening meal which is offered each week. The meal is attended by all kinds of folks from the community with an average attendance of 200. Pastor Jeff and his wife Pat, make the homemade bread served each week as part of the menu which is planned two months in advance. What a great way to share Jesus, meet, and get to know your brothers and sisters - break bread together! Pictured are your hosts for The Feast. Will you be in Winona on a Wednesday evening? Stop in.

Dave and I Recording

Pictures of me helping Dave record! I am out of the RV. I am not making any noise that will be recorded, and I am perfectly happy to be supportive of his work in this way... reading a book and drinking wine in a beautiful setting. Come on down, I have another chair, there is plenty of space and you can help Dave record too!

Seeing Red

This week we have been visited, on and off, throughout the day by this very confused Cardinal. He dives at the windows in an effort to scare the competition out of his clearly marked territory.
I think he is trying to look fierce, but he is too pretty to be taken seriously.

The Office

Well, not exactly like the TV show, but we had our moments.
I worked at Mayer Lutheran High School (MLHS) before living full-time on the road. I can't believe I have been away from these dear folks for two years already. Thanks for lunch, Joel.

When I first started at MLHS, I shared office space with Karen and Paulette. Our office space was so small that we had room for one keyboard - I used my left hand, Karen used her right and Paulette told us what was on the screen. Okay, maybe not that small, but close.

Because I am in town for Administrative Assistants Week, I was able to join my former co-workers and celebrate with them. I get lunch out again this week as Dave will want me to thank him for his hard work this year too. Wait, reverse that, I work for him - I never get that right.

Singing in Cloquet, Minnesota

Our friends - the Schultz family. It is always a treat to spend time with this amazing musical family.

Dave and I sang at their church, The Gospel Tabernacle, in Cloquet, and we were privileged to have them join us for a number of songs. Practice was - wild and carefree! Adding six more voices to "Fix Our Eyes" made for a big joyful sound, but the words are still for each of us, "... who for the JOY set before Him, endured the cross ..." He came for each of us because He loved us. Singing with the Schultz family is just a peek at what is to come. Heaven is gonna be great.

Please note Ghost Dave - that guy just can't hold still.

Gordy's Hi-Hat Drive In

This year Gordy's will celebrate 50 years of serving up tasty burgers, fries, fish, and shakes to the Cloquet, Minnesota, area. In the foreground is Gordy ready to take your order. We would have missed this great local treasure if Dave's sister had not moved to Cloquet. Gordy's will be featured on the Food Network's Diners, Drive Ins and Dives, but I do not know when, do you?

Easter with the Soon-To-Be- In-Laws

Travis and Amber in one shot, and the proud moms and dads in the next.

We are excited to add Amber to our family. She is a delight and we love her. It was so much fun to spend some time with her folks and get to know them over Easter dinner and dishes - they guys did a great job cleaning up the feast.

Dave and I are happy to spend some time in Central Minnesota with Travis, Amber and our family in the area. While we LOVE our traveling ministry, it is a nice change of pace to spend some time in a place where we do not need a GPS unit to find the grocery store, laundromat, or even the church or school where we will next sing. Spring in Minnesota has been awesome this year - no snow in April - yet.

Jubilation Ignited

While we were in Newhall, Iowa, we were privileged to watch the Central Lutheran School choir called "Jubilation Ignited." The choir is made up of 6th - 8th graders who love to sing and DANCE! The kids performed for the community fund raiser in the high school's packed gymnasium. The students sang and danced to Voice of Truth, Oh Happy Day, Dancing in the Street and Ode to Joy. While participating in the community event the Lutheran School students provided a charming, winsome, witness.
